The ship was launched in 1987 for the Southafrican Marine Corporation, but was transferred to the Marlan Corporation within the same year. Marlan sold the ship in 1988 and she was re-named Fedor Dostoevskiy (1990-95). Ownership changed again in 1995 and the ship was again named the Astor. She was still operating in 2011.
