ОписаниеLetter to Joseph Gillott dated 31st August 1847, from his chief clerk G. Hawksworth [?] at the old Graham St. works in Birmingham.
The clerk mentions in a postscript that the day before, the SS Great Britain was towed safely into Liverpool after being salvaged from Dundrum Bay - 'P.S. By last night's Express - "the Great Britain steamer was safely towed into Liverpool."' Following this postscript there is a brief pencil note in another, later, hand, which explains some background of the SS Great Britain.
The main part of the letter discusses various matters, such as the health of a Mr Green, work in the master [?] factory, the forwarding of papers and letters to Gillott, making an offer to buy a meadow, somebody of their acquaintance trying to sell pictures of 'sporting subjects [?]', and questions about what Gillott wants done with a sum of money, as well as updates on Birmingham cricket results.
