Concerns the construction of the Thames Tunnel. He writes 'The works are stopped again - and I regret to say that there is an old man missing consequently lost'. He says that the extension of the gangway has been completed. Signed 'M.I. Brunel'. One sheet of paper folded. Addressed to 'Bn Hawes Esq M.P Stanley Lodge Mortlake' on reverse, with remains of a red seal and scribbles.
