-

point out, in as concise and popular a manner as possible, the
original names, boundaries, public buildings, the domestic
history, habitations, and manners, of Ancient Bristol. He
has also endeavoured to describe the principal institutions,
natural beauties, and topographical curiosities, of Modern
Bristol, Clifton, and the Hotwells ; and to give a correct and
succinct Account of the Bristol Riots, October, 1831. Не
has likewise inserted Topographical Notices of Clevedon,
Chepstow, Ilfracombe, Portishead, Swansea, Tenby, Weston-
super-Mare, and of the Villages, Noblemen's and Gentle-
men's Seats in the vicinity of Bristol ; and every other loca l
information which may be considered interesting or amusing.
