William W. Davidson worked as cook, able seaman and then quartermaster on a range of vessels from 1895 to 1901, before settling at his home port of Avonmouth. During his life at sea he visited India, the Suez Canal, Marseilles, the Netherlands, Germany, Australia, Chile, and Jamaica. Transcript of original handwritten journal and of associated documents such as certificates of discharge, images of the vessels on which Davidson worked, and newspaper reports.
