CreatorYeoman & Co (Photographer, printer and publisher)
DescriptionA black and white studio portrait of a young man in Melbourne, Australia, believed to have possibly been Frank W. Powell, who travelled on the Great Britain on voyage 42, and whose letters were acquired alongside this photograph. The picture was produced by Richard Yeoman between 1881- 1914- a leading commercial photographer in Victoria, known for being ‘amongst the pioneers of photography in Victoria’ in the late 19th century. Yeoman’s photography is responsible for the immortalizing of many of the first Australians to arrive in the late 19th century.
