Obverse bears the heads of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert, facing left. Inscription on obverse reads: QUEEN VICTORIA AND PRINCE ALBERT. Reverse bears a starboard view of the vessel. Inscription on reverse reads: THE GREAT BRITAIN in exergue: LENGTH 322 FT. BREATH 50 FT. 6IN./DEPTH 32FT. 6IN. 26 STATE ROOMS/WITH 1 BED EH. 113 WITH 2 BED EH/TOTAL WHT OF IRON 1500 TNS./1000 HORSE POWER/LAUNCHED BY/H.R.H PRINCE ALBERT JULY 19 1843/BUILT BY THE GREAT WESTERN STEAM COMPY. Hole in top of medal.
