DescriptionLarge framed watercolour by nineteenth century marine painter, Thomas Sewell Robins depicting a seascape with sailing fishing boats on a choppy sea.
The central focus is a one masted sailing boat carrying four figures. In the foreground to the right of the boat is a buoy and white cliffs can be seen in the distance on the right. To the left of the boat are three other sailing boats in the distance. The sea is choppy and the sky is bright with light cloud. The outline of flying seabirds are visible against this.
The initials of the artist 'TSR' and the date 1845 are in the bottom left corner.
The painting is mounted in a modern gold frame. A wooden panel is secured to the frame's backboard with masking tape and a label gives detail of the artist and subject matter.
