DescriptionA colour print showing a seascape with a starboard profile view of the SS Great Britain. A choppy sea is visible in the foreground with some clouds in a calm sky in the background. The ship is in the centre of the image, under full sail and with smoke coming from her funnel.
The ship is depicted in her original configuration as she was launched in 1843, with six masts, all fore-and-aft rigged apart from the main mast. The red ensign is flown on her jack staff at the stern.
There are a further three vessels visible in the background, with a Royal Navy frigatte visible to the right.
The legend below the print gives the details of the vessel. The lithograph was produced by G. Hawkins after a painting by Joseph Walter.
