DescriptionA letter dated 19 March 1845 from Brown Shipley and Co. in Liverpool to Messrs Maslin & Pepper in Philadelphia. The letter concerns the shipping of an order of goods purchased from a Mr Henry Elwell. The company in Liverpool informes Maslin & Pepper that they will ship the goods to parties to be identified at New Orleans and then send an invoice for shipping chages to Philadelphia.
The external part of the letter caries various stamps including the '8' pre-paid charge, the black ship letter stamp of Liverpool from 29 March 1845, and the red ship letter stamp of New York from 16 April 1845. It is annotated to be sent 'per Great Western'.
