Discusses his father, who worked from a young age, including as a servant to Captain Bowls and was there at the taking of Copenhagen. Returned and worked with his father in the nightsoil business. 'At the end of the great Comet year 1811,
he married Charlotte Wilder'. After Waterloo business boomed, as everyone needed cesspits and there were no sewers.
