Sent on the 31st January 1858. the telegram informs Isambard of the launch of the SS Great Eastern in Millwall, London. 'The ship is all right afloat and in her place'.
On the other side of the telegram - 'The Great Eastern - Steam Ship - launched Jany 31st 1858 - Young Brunel gave this telegraphic message to Her' believed to refer to how Emily Ponsonby, who created a scrap book which included this telegram, came to own it.
