DescriptionElevation of Brunel's design for the Capitol building of the United States of America. Signed M. Id. Brunel and dated 1794. Depicts a building consisting of a two-tiered colonnaded rotunda with four Grecian porticoes, surmounted by a statue of Liberty seated beside the globe. On the ground level are statues of Fame, Mercury, and female statues representing Wisdom, Victory, Plenty, and Justice. The print measures 266 by 468mm and the mount 404 by 558mm.
The mount is marked 'USNY1' in pencil and is sealed only along the top edge.
