DescriptionA letter from English historian, poet and Whig politician Thomas Babington Macaulay to Mr Hawes. He thanks Mr Hawes for his kindness and encloses a note from ''Ellis'' which shows how grateful he is for the 'obligations' Mr Hawes has laid upon him. He invites Mr Hawes to breakfast at his house on Ten O'Clock on Monday promising that he would ask for no more favours. Dated 6th February 1849.
Contained within an album of letters addressed to members of the Brunel and Hawes families. The letters are contained in a brown hardback album belonging to Lady Sophia Macnamara Hawes.
