DescriptionA coin recovered from the Royal Charter shipwreck. It appears to be hand-engraved with an image of two birds atop two hearts with arrows through them. The opposite is worn and shows the profile of King Grorge III within a rim which is inscribed with the words, GEORGIUS III REX. It is possibly that the coin is a British penny which was engraved to become a token. There are spots of green discolouration on both sides as well as other signs of corrosion from being submerged in seawater.
