The log was kept by J. Allan Mordue, the chief mate of the vessels. The book cover is annotated with two vessel's names: the 'Hudson' in 1894 and the 'Helen Denny' in 1895.
Volume is slightly larger than A4, bound within stiff card with a marble effect paper cover. The spine is finished with a mottled, dark green textile material.
