DescriptionPlate from the ss Great Eastern in white with gold detailing. Plate is docorated with gold paint around the rim, a gold chain link design around the edge, and a image of Britannia and a ship in the centre of the plate. Britannia is sat facing left with an anchor at her feet while the ship is under sail in the background. The image in the centre of the plate is slightly worn and faded. On the back of the plate is a W. H. Kerr Binns & Co. manufacturers stamp. Plate measure 236mm in diamenter. Hairline cracks and some discolouration across the top half of the plate and a small chip mark near the the right of the plate edge. Some loss of the paint around the rim. Part of the chain link design around the edge at the bottom had not been painted. Great Ship Company Limited stamp on bottom of plate and hairline cracks near top edge.
