DescriptionPlate from the ss Great Eastern in white with gold detailing. Plate is docorated with a gold chain link design around the edge, and a image of Britannia and a ship in the centre of the plate. Britannia is sat facing left with an anchor at her feet while the ship is under sail in the background. The image in the centre of the plate is worn and faded. There is a crack across the bottom half of the centre of the plate, and four small marks on the top left of the plate. On the back of the plate is a W. H. Kerr Binns & Co. manufacturers stamp. On the back the gold paint around the rim is very faded and there is a chip in the rim. Plate measure 236mm in diamenter.
