DescriptionCeramic jug with pink printed image of the Great Eastern at sea on both sides with blue painted borders. There is a blue trim around the mouth of the jug and blue raindrop motifs around the handle and lip. The image of the Great Eastern is mirrored on the each side of this piece, printed in pink. The picture shows the ship in profile at sea in rocky waters. There are clouds overhead and choppy seas in the foreground. In the background, and to either side of the Great Eastern, smaller sailing ships battle against the inclement weather. The Great Eastern is shown with topsails set and turning away from the viewer out to sea, turning away to the right of the picture and her stern is in view.
