DescriptionBlack printed commemorative ceramic cup for the opening of the Thames Tunnel. The pictures show the entrances to the Tunnel on both sides of the river and gives measurements of the tunnel, how long it took to build and is inscribed "Opened 25 day of March 1843". On the base there are two hand-written labels in pen saying "Wapping" and "Rotherhithe" placed under the appropriate picture, plus another printed label with "James Blewitt, Boxted".
