DescriptionOne of a pair of white porcelain rhombus shaped shell dishes painted by Lady Sophia Macnamara Hawes, sister of Isambard Kingdom Brunel. With paintings of birds at each corner, pink and gold decoration on the lattice rim of the dish, gilding on the edge of the rim and flowers painted in the centre of the dish. The back is signed 'S M Hawes July 1840' in gold with a cancelled blue crossed swords mark and a white paper label.
