DescriptionOne of a pair of shell dishes dated 1840 painted by Lady Sophia Macnamara Hawes. With panels of birds, cancelled crossed swords mark on the back and signed 'S M Hawes July 1840'. The dish of white porcelain, with pink trim colouring the border of the dish and highlighting the ridges of the object. Plants are depicted in the middle of the dish whilst different variety of birds occupy its four corners.
