DescriptionA small brass medal, produced to commemorate the launch of the SS Great Britain in 1843. On one side, it depicts the SS Great Britain under sail and steam power, with six masts and puffs of smoke coming from the funnel. There is text above and below the image of the ship, detailing the launch, the ship's dimensions, and the name of the producer of the medal, J. Gardner. On the reverse is further text detailing the launch, the weight of the ship, and that it was constructed by Thomas Guppy.
