TitleCommemorative medal for the opening of the Thames Tunnel in 1843
Creator William Griffin (publisher)
DescriptionSmall brass medal, commemorating the opening of the Thames Tunnel in 1843. It depicts the Thames Tunnel on one side, with an advertisement for the medal's publisher, William Griffin, on the other (stating that this and other medals are to be had from him at 25 Change Alley, Cornhill, London). There is a hole punched through the top centre, and slight wear/rubbing to the text on the reverse, perhaps both suggesting that the medal has been worn.
