DescriptionA small brass medal commemorating the opening of both the Thames Tunnel and Nelson's Column in 1843. The tunnel is depicted on one side and the column on the other, each with a short caption (that for the column lists Nelson's main battles/campaigns of St. Vincent, the Nile, Copenhagen and Trafalgar). The medal is thought to be by William Griffin.
The reverse of the medal, depicting Nelson's column, is identical to that listed in Laurence Brown's British Historical Medals (3 volumes), number 2128.
