DescriptionScrapbook page including a 3 page letter from Sir Marc Brunel to his son Isambard Kingdom Brunel in French and English, regarding the Clifton Suspension Bridge. The front page is a sketch by Sir Marc entitled 'Sketch of a Bridge for Clifton' which shows a bridge supported in the middle with a pagoda, and a sailing boat is to the right of the tower. The drawing is dated 28th October 1829. When the letter is opened there are also two small sketches. Marc is giving his advice to his son about the construction of the bridge.
The letter is on a paper mount with another unrelated letter pasted to the back, which is addressed to Sir Marc's son-in-law, Sir Benjamin Hawes from C J London dated 1852.
