TitleAntananarivo, 31 March 1875
DescriptionPage 1 of the letter dated Antananarivo, 31 March 1875. 2 Pages. Loose part of the Album containing 134 letters. Letter addressed to 'My dear Miss George (?)'. Sent from Antananarivo, the capital of Madagascar, this letter appears to concern the activities of the priests in the area. The author begins by recalling the number of priests and the fever which afflicted them upon their arrival in Madagascar. He then goes on to describe their achievements, beginning with the 'celebration of Holy Communion' on March 17. He stresses education, and his desire to establish boarding schools but how it is difficult due the dearth of women who are trained in such matters.
