Description£2 silver proof coin, commemorating the 200th anniversary of Richard Trevithick's steam locomotive, Penydarren. On one side is the text 'R. TREVITHICK 1804 INVENTION INDUSTRY PROGRESS 2004' and 'TWO POUNDS', with a central design of Richard Trevithick's 1804 steam locomotive, Penydarren. The locomotive is surrounded by a decorative cogwheel border. On the reverse is a side profile of Queen Elizabeth II surrounded by the abbreviated Latin text 'ELIZABETH II DEI GRA REG FID DEF' (abbreviation of 'Elizabeth II Dei Gratia Regina Fidei Defensatrix' - 'Elizabeth II by the Grace of God Queen Defender of the Faith'). On the edge is a decorative border inspired by railway tracks. The coin is still in its plastic capsule.
