TitleLetter from Sir Marc Isambard Brunel to Benjamin Hawes, 4 June 1843
Creator Marc Isambard Brunel (author)
DescriptionLetter from Sir Marc Isambard Brunel to his son-in-law Benjamin Hawes, dated 4 June 1843. Written in Bath where he was met by Mr and Mrs Marchant. He writes about not going to Chilcompton until Tuesday, so that Lady B has some time to recover for a day or two from 'fatigue and anxiety she has for some time had.' He hopes that the 'kindness' and 'good air' in Bath will help her.
He adds that him being in Bath means "there will be no impediment to the claim being now brought forward, and soon settled, that we may know, where to seek our future home, if the work is completely terminated". Signed 'Mc.I. Brunel'. Underneath is written 'Benjamin Hawes Esq M.P.', underlined. One sheet of paper folded. 'Sir I Brunel 1843' written on reverse. Brown stains.
