Creator Marc Isambard Brunel (author)
DescriptionLetter from Sir Marc Isambard Brunel to his son-in-law Benjamin Hawes, dated 3 December 1843. Written in Chilcompton. He writes about not being able to find a 'settled home' in Westminster and asks Benjamin Hawes to answer questions relating to his salary and whether it is fixed, required services from him, and progress on his application for a remuneration. He says that he and his wife need a settled home now, since 'Lady Brunel’s health and the ages of us both require it.' At the end of the letter he mentions Sophia and hopes that she 'gains strength.'
