Descriptionss Great Britain commemorative medal, suspended from metal ring holder. Obverse side shows double bust profile portraits of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert. Makers name and location, "J.Davis, Birm", underneath portrait of Victoria. Text "Queen Victoria & Prince Albert" around the edge of medal. Reverse side shows starboard profile view of the ss Great Britain, below which is a list of the ship's dimensions, rooms, weight and engine capacity. Also the date of the ship's launch by HRH Prince Albert and the name of the ship's builders, the Great Western Steamship Company.
