Creator Edwin Landseer Grundy (artist)
DescriptionA watercolour titled 'Mr. Mellor's (MP) house, Abergele', drawn by Edwin Landseer Grundy, undated.
The painting shows a house covered in ivy with several chimneys and situated in a large garden surrounded by a low stone wall. There is a wooden gate giving access from the road which runs alongside the left side of the house. A rural landscape is surrounding the house, with green hills in the background, hedges along the road and a tree on the right side in the foreground. In the background on the right, several rooftops are visible of other houses. The drawing is annotated and signed in pencil underneath.
The document was removed from a scrapbook which was compiled by Edwin Landseer Grundy and contained many of his own drawings and sketches. Grundy was an apprentice and junior officer on board the SS Great Britain as well as the Royal Charter in the 1850s. The document is fixed to a page from a scrapbook with glue.
