DescripciónLetter from John Penn to Isambard Kingdom Brunel. Written from Lewisham, S.E. London. The letter gives Penn's opinion that the shaft needs to be lined with brass of at least one inch thickness. The letter is accompanied by several detailed sketches on Folio 327 illustrating how Penn believes the wood should be put into the stern tube and offers to send Brunel more detailed drawings if he should wish and if he could provide more detailed dimensions of the tube.

Containing copies of letters to and sometimes copies of letters from Isambard Kingdom Brunel regarding the running of the Eastern Steam Navigation Company and the building of the S.S. Great Eastern.
