The letter includes some resolutions passed at a meeting of the Committee of Works. The resolutions cover the amount of money to be put aside for finishing the work on the Great Eastern and lists the work that needs to completed. The list includes the fixing of the top gallants, iron works, finishing the main shaft and the paddle engine, fixing the sponsons and the funnels, paddle boxes and other materials, preparing the plates for the masts, rudders and side lights and finishing and glazing the skylights. The letter has been copied out as DM1306/11/1/5/folio 377 in Brunel's letter books of Great Eastern correspondence.
