Creator John Yates (author)
DescriptionWritten on headed paper from The Eastern Steam Navigation Company, 13 Gresham Street, London. The letter responds to Brunel's letter of 23 August 1857 and promises to do all he can to gather the information needed for the incoming board meeting and confirms that he has received a note from William Jacomb promising whatever assistance he can offer so that Yates hopes they can get matters sorted. The letter also updates Brunel on the situation with the railways bars for the launching ways, the flat bars being supplied by Beales & Co, the rudder and the intermediate shaft being made in Glasgow.
