DescriptionReprint of an article from The Times about the Great Eastern praising the formation of a new company to take over the running of the Great Eastern and commenting on the construction and fitting out of the ship. The article describes in detail the size of the ship and her masts and their construction and the proposed method of rigging as well as potential problems with the mast, the number of ship's boats, the proposed route for the first year's voyages and the potential value of the ship as a communication tool with India, China and Australia. A heading above the reprinted article reads "It must be satisfactory to the well wishers of the "Great Eastern" to find such unanimity in the accorded opinions of the Press, amongst others the following Extract from the "Times" of the 25th November, is deserving attention, embracing as it does, facts and views concurred in by the Directors of this Company."
