DescriptionThe first table has columns indicating the percentage of power exerted above minimal power, the percentage of power exerted below normal power and the feet of boiler surface per indicated horse power. The table records the results for the Rosamund in December 1850, the Banshee in January 1848 and November 1850, the Retribution in July 1850, the Violet in January 1850, the Elfin in April 1849 and the Terrible in December 1849.
The second table has columns for the nominal H.P (horse power), the indicated H.P and the proportion of indicated to nominal H.P for six ships; the Centaur, the Llewellyn, the Trident, the Violet, the Elfin and the Teazer. Both tables have explanatory notes, possibly written by Christopher Claxton.
