Wellington disagrees with the previous account made by Sir Marc Brunel about a loan for the Thames Tunnel. He states 'I am quite convinced that you intend to quote correctly what passed between the Directors of the Tunnel Company and myself when I was in the Office of First Lord of the Treasury; but that which you have stated does not accord exactly with my recollection.'
