НазваниеRowland Brotherhood memoir - page 9
    Создатель Rowland Brotherhood (author)‎
ОписаниеNinth page of handwritten memoir written by Rowland Brotherhood, contractor who worked with IK Brunel. Page 9 of 78. Account begins 'Both father and myself soon found how necessary it was that I should learn to write and figure a little so I went to a night school in winter for [the/that] purpose, at that time our working hours, were from day light to dark during a great part of the year, and some times all night at certain work, I went then to Sunday School nearly all the year round, there were no Bank holidays then for us.' Records his father was particular about getting the best tools, and doing the dangerous / hard work first to show how it should be done. Then begins a story of a time at the 'Marquis of Ailsa at Saint Margarets near Isleworth, when there was a high flood in the thames which met a high spring tide' and flooded the lower part of the house, where the 'Scotch maids' slept.
