Two workers can be seen at the machinery. Outside the building stands a red-coated figure underneath a flag pole flying the white ensign. Underneath the drawing is a scale. Inscribed verso "Works for // Chatham // Government Dockyard // Saw Mills" in black ink. The drawing measures 462mm (H) by 657mm (W), and is housed inside a plastic sleeve attached with masking tape to a mount measuring 610mm (H) by 810mm (W).
