Drawn in a simplified form, railway routes are presented in a triangle with each corner marked with a significant hub city (London in the east, Birmingham to the north and Bristol to the west). The lines of the triangle connect these hubs and mark out the intended routes of Brunel's trains; London to Birmingham, London to Bristol, Bristol to Birmingham. The plans also have provision for a central hub at Oxford which would run lines to all the three of the major centres. The western point of his triangle also has a stop at Bath before Bristol. Brunel has also added the distances between all of these proposed stations as well as illustrating the potential time saving such routes might produce on current travel times. Also marked out alongside the Bristol to Birmingham route are the towns of Gloucester, Worcester and Tewksbury.
