    Создатель Arthur Ernest Rowland (photographer)‎
ОписаниеSepia photograph of passengers on saloon deck. Taken by A.E. Rowland on a voyage on board the SS Great Britain from Melbourne to Liverpool in 1874. Arthur Rowland was an amateur photographer and took his camera to Australia. There are multiple photographs in the collection of Arthur in Australia as well as back in Britain. In the background the steering wheel/helm of the SS Great Britain can be seen with crew standing around it. There is a canvas awning spanned over the aft end of the ship and the mizzen mast is visible. In the centre of the image the two men and a woman are sitting on deck in deck chairs just in front of the mast. In the foreground a decklight is visible on the right side of the photograph, and on the left a lifeboat, painted white, in a cradle. Verso: Inscription hand-written in ink: "Saloon deck of Steam Ship 'Great Britain' taken at sea on homeward voyage from Melbourne, Australia to Liverpool, 1874.
