DescriptionLetter from Sir Henry Barkly, Governor of British Guiana, written from 48 Brook Street London, dated 24 June [1853], to Benjamin Hawes. Loose part of the Album containing 134 letters. Sir Henry is writing to Benjamin Hawes to thank him for congratulating Barkly on his appointment to the Government of Jamaica.
The letter was originally catalogued when it was loose from the main album, it was subsequently reattached by Sharon Oldale, Paper Conserver (see 'Condition / Conservation' tab) - page 4 of the album.
Now contained within an album of letters addressed to members of the Brunel and Hawes families, page 4. The letters are contained in a brown hardback album belonging to Lady Sophie Macnamara Hawes.
