НазваниеWatercolours showing scenes in Abergele
Создатель Edwin Landseer Grundy (artist)
ОписаниеA scrapbook page with two watercolours mounted, both annotated with the place name of Abergele. Rural scenes drawn by Edwin Landseer Grundy, undated. The artist's signature can be seen on the right hand side of the page in the lower half.
The watercolour at the top of the page shows a potential hunting scene, with a rider in a red coat galloping along on a white horse. Running alongside the horse is a white and brown dog. In the background a forest is visible with a variety of trees. At the bottom of the page is a second watercolour which shows a country road reading through a forest. A green wooden overed cart or carriage can be seen being pulled by a white horse in the centre of the image. There is a large tree on the left in the foreground, and a large black bird, possibly a crow, in the foreground on the left about to land on the ground. In the background a forest can be seen with a selection of different trees.
The document was removed from a scrapbook which was compiled by Edwin Landseer Grundy and contained many of his own drawings and sketches. Grundy was an apprentice and junior officer on board the SS Great Britain as well as the Royal Charter in the 1850s. Both watercolours are fixed to the scrapbook page with glue in all four corners.
