A3 photocopy of original handwritten letter with envelope. Also includes a typed transcript of the letter.
Original in SSGB collections: 1997.039. 'Letter from Oldfield & Hudson to Board of Directors of The Great Western Steamship Company. Dated 30th November 1846. Address altered from 'Liverpool, Lancashire' to 'Bristol'. Postmarked Liverpool, December 1st and Bristol December 2nd 1846. Oldfield and Houdson write noting the 'unfortunate accident that has happened to your noble ship Great Britain'.They state that they are willing to rescue the ship and 'put you in possession of a plan which we at least think will prove effectual' in return for 'reward in the case of success'.
