Known to us all as the French Line, the celebrated Compaignie Générale Transatlantique has owned 482 vessels, many of them historically renowned, from its formation to its 1973 merger wither Messageries Maritimes into the new Compaignie Générale Maritime. After a chronological company history, plus livery details and trading routes, there follows the technical and career history of every one of the 482 ships owned. Of these 452 vessels are illustrated by 270 scale profile drawings.
