DescriptionLeather cricket ball with engraved silver plate, awarded to Edward Mills Grace in Melbourne in 1864 for "Excellent Wicket Keeping", during the All England XI 1863/64 tour to Australia and New Zealand. Grace had travelled to Australia aboard Voyage 24 of the SS Great Britain, that departed Liverpool on 15th October 1863 and arrived on 22nd December 1863.
Edward Mills Grace was the elder brother of cricketer W. G. Grace and both brothers were doctors. The Grace family were from Downend, Bristol. Grace was born in Downend and died in Thornbury, South Gloucestershire.
