DescriptionDiary written by Rachel Henning, recording her experience of traveling from Liverpool to Melbourne on board the SS Great Britain, February to May 1861.
The diary is a small blue book, filled almost entirely by Rachel Henning's handwriting. In the front a diagram of the first class cabins has been glued into the diary. This can be unfolded and Rachel Henning has inserted the names of passengers and in which cabin they travelled. There is also a small newspaper cutting glued next to the diagram reporting on the safe arrival in Melbourne.
